Good Bye credit cards

We paid off our credit card a couple years ago. After paying it all off they decided to raise our interest rate to 27%. Needless to say we haven't used it again.

All the junk they send to us in the mail drives me crazy! Stephen found this site that you can opt out from all those junk mail offers for five years via the internet registration or the one I picked FOREVER via snail mail registration.

Good bye junk mail, good bye nasty credit cards, good bye sneaky fine print....hello some cash, I hope....someday....

I don't know if I put the link in right to be able to just click on it, but I tried.

Good girl . . . they cause nothing but grief, in many ways!

Mariah, I figured there was something to the comment I just couldn't figure out what. When the part said something about just focusing on the issure and not moving forward I thought you meant we should just get over it all ready and realize we had something to learn from it. I just knew you couldn't have meant that so I had to clear the air. NO ill feelings at all! :) Your mom was telling me that you guys have been hanging on by your fingernails for a long time now. That is one of the most difficult things to go through...financial problems. In fact it's the number one cause of divorce. I was just thinking today that I must not have needed to be tested in the area of "plenty" but rather I had more lessons to learn being poor. It can cause depression in a major way and lots of tension between couples. It's really hard when you are trying to do everything right, i.e, tithing, offerings, church and etc... It's easy to wonder why. But like you said there are always lessons to be learned and even lots of blessings. I really hope things start looking up for you. Jessica and John have struggled so much this year and Teele and I were just commenting that since he FINALLY went to work three weeks ago that we have spent $280 on food literally more than we spent the entire year last year. We have lived off of our year supply and we had one food order through the church this past Feb. I don't know how we have managed to keep our home and the utilities on but we did. Although we did have the power, phone and water shut off a few times last year. Somehow we managed to get it back on again. The credit card thing...GOOD for you! We had one credit card back in 1983 to pay for Amanda's birth. Then we paid it off and tore it up and haven't had one since! They are EVIL So far my kids have managed to avoid them. Mandy and Crystal have one but they imposed low limits on them and they are rarely used. I'm so proud of them.
Mariah you guys are good people and the Lord is mindful of you. He has not forgotten you and is aware of your needs. I know the two of you will be blessed and guided in the things that you should do. You are right about worrying more when there are little ones! That's the worst part of it all. We always want what's best for our kids and hope that we can provide sufficient for their needs. Hang in there all will be well! Love you guys!

Financial troubles are the worst...and we understand what you've been going through. We look forward to the day that we not only have a steady income, but a lack of debt and credit cards. Thanks for sharing the link. Getting rid of those nasty things, and all that junk mail is a GREAT thing. :)

Good for you!! Credit cards are BAAAD!!! (unless, of course you use it the right way, but who does that?) We paid off ours a few years ago and then cut them up, and was one of the best decisions we've ever made!!

Mariah, I just loved reading your blog this morning! I didn't realize you had your baby already. I love the name you chose. My neice just named her new baby Lincoln. It's a very strong name. You have such a wonderful style of writing. A gift you have and must keep sharing! I can't believe how big Garrett is! He was practically a newborn when you came for Angie's wedding. Time sure flies. Congratulation on your new little boy.

Credit cards are the worst! John and I have one for EMERGENCIES only, and having it boosted John's credit score. I'm happy for two!
