I ripped this off from the masterpiece about Pioneers a friend posted. It's a pretty good summary of life right now...
I have confidence that we'll make it and survive just like we did last time, but that doesn't make it any easier. Sometimes life just.....stinks.....a lot.
Elder Ballard said “We all face Rocky Ridges with the wind in our face and winter coming on too soon. Sometimes it seems as though there is no end to the dust that stings our eyes and clouds our vision. Occasionally we reach the top of one summit in life, as the pioneers did, only to see more mountain peaks ahead, higher and more challenging than the one we have just traversed.”
It is at the very moment we think we cannot take another step, that we so desperately need to “Remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that [we] must build [our] foundation. That when the devil shall send forth his mighty wind, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon [you], it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless woe, because of the rock upon which ye are built which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build, they cannot fall.” (Helaman 5:12)
Thanks for posting this Jodi, it did me good.

Thanks for re-posting this, Mariah. I needed it today, too. Here's another talk I heard used yesterday in church that is similar. http://lds.org/general-conference/2008/10/the-ministry-of-angels?lang=eng&query=wilderness
Thanks Jodi, I do love to learn from younger generations . . . it makes the world a better place. . . and thanks to my sweet ornery daughter too . . even she can teach me . . though it may be little harder to listen sometimes ;-)
Thanks for re-posting it Mariah! It pretty well sums up our life right now as well. And I am so grateful to have that "remembrance" of who we are, why we are here, and who we can turn to during these times in our lives!
I hope that everything works out Mariah and that things turn around for you. Although it sounds like things are pretty tough right now you seem to have a good spirit and outlook on it.
I love this talk and I love the lessons we learn from the pioneers! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and we'll make it. The greatest blessing is becoming acquainted with God in trials.
