Apparently, we have one more thing that's in need of repair or replacement. Stephen walked out the front door and called back for the step ladder. Then called back never mind it's not fixable. Our tree broke right in half. This tree is tied and supported everywhere and still split. So much for that big shade tree plan. We're going to cut off the top and hope that the remaining trunk will sprout something that will eventually look like a tree again. Craziest part, there were no monsoon storms or wind today. It was just calm and hot. Hey, maybe it's just wilted from the heat and some water will perk it back up. {;-D
It does add a lovely touch to the front yard don't you think? I was really looking forward to the shade we were going to have next year. That'll teach me, you can't count your chickens before they hatch.

With all we did for that tree...how could it go and do that? Isn't that the same tree we went out in the pooring rain to help tie down before the wind blew it comepletely over? Well, hopefully something will grow out of the top again! Keep us posted! (BTW...What kind of tree was it? That was I can keep an ear out for you if another one crosses my path!)
That's a bummer. It will be an educational experience for the boys watching the tree to see if it will grow back, and you can think of some lesson about repentance of something?!
I have that same fear for our tree in the front yard. I just know that if we don't prune it soon, it will snap in 2. I hope yours grows back. Too bad there's no returns at the nursery!
So sorry about your tree. It's funny how attached we get to the things we plant. We nurture them and watch them grow with hope, love and excitement. So losing a tree is sad. Who knows this might have been a good thing for your tree it very well could come back with new shoots and be stronger because it will give the trunk time to grow and the roots to go deeper before it's top heavy again...therefor better able to support it. Hope that makes sense. By the way I've never seen your house and I love your walkway and front yard...very nice.

Yep that's the tree we risked life and limb (no pun intended) for in the lighting to tie back up. It was a Chinese Elm if you know anyone getting rid of one let me know. :)
